Confirmed: Cheaper castrated Nokia N82 without WLAN and 3G to be released

Here is a screenshot of my current Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N82 thanks to Device Status:

Notice how it is RM-313. On the FCC we have something called RM-314, hat tip to Howard Forums. With a little bit of investigation it became clearly obvious via Forum Nokia that their would be a second Nokia N82:
The Nokia N82 is a GSM/WCDMA dual mode portable multimedia computer supporting EGSM 850/900/1800/1900/WCDMA 2100 HSDPA and WLAN or EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 for some regions.
Judging by the label listed on the FCC, this might be something for the Asian market, but it may as well come to the states as a cheaper, castrated N82:

Actually intomobile misquoted the nokia site (or it was later changed), if you follow the link it reads “The Nokia N82 is a GSM/WCDMA dual mode portable multimedia computer supporting EGSM 850/900/1800/1900/WCDMA 2100 HSDPA and WLAN or EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 for some regions Use the Nokia N82 for connecting to mobile Broadband using WLAN or HSDPA (3.5G) with faster downloading than 3G.” Theres more to the sentence. I find it poorly written, confusing, and hardly confirmation of anything.
Actually never mind, they just forgot the period, as indicated by the capital “U.” Well I hope they don’t try to pass this piece of junk (seriously no wifi?) off on the north american market.
I don’t think you should use a verb like “castrate” in relation to a non-living creature.
You shouldn’t post your IMEI like that
This would be a huge mistake if they released this version of the phone in the USA. All of the hard work they have put into the N95 push would be down the drain…they need to keep churning out the high-end phones with high-end features. They’d better not pull an E62 -
Is it targeted at low cost markets ?
As the n82 is slightly expensive ..
Ouch!
Castrated?!
Now there’s a graphic I could have done without.
Owwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!
It has a CMII ID so it’s probably intended for the People’s Republic of China.
CMII = China Ministry of Information Industry
Actually, I’m 99% certain this is for the China market, as China does not have 3G, and China does not allow devices with international standard Wifi to be built in China.
I accidentally purchased one of these RM-314’s in China.

Hello,
I have a question… Could I upgrade through firmware updating in orderto have wlan and 3G features enabled?
@Ogami_ito – Yes, this is a Chinese market specific phone.
@Marcel – no – if you try to flash the RM-314 N82 with the firmware for the RM-313 variant you will end up with a phone that doesn’t boot at all.
You people are so dumb. That piece of crap is “made by Nokia”, so it’s not the original Nokia, but a cheap “clone” of the original. Let me say it loud and clear: A FAKE! It’s intended for China and as far as I’m concerned it should stay there! And if any of you idiots was a second smarter, you would have seen both the chinese characters and the logo on that certificate or whatever. And then of course, for the one who said it’s “castrated”: nice word, you asshole! Are you trying to blame it on someone else?
@ANN
Well, maybe you should go back to the initial post and see that this was started by a filing that *Nokia* made to the FCC – so this is clearly a Nokia product, and not a clone.
Apart from that, great point!
