Yahoo!7 (also known as Yahoo! Australia) is this week launching Yahoo! Go Mobile, a new service that lets consumers access Yahoo!’s e-mail and instant messaging service, on selected Nokia S60 devices. The service integrates the company’s popular communications services with the phone’s built-in e-mail, messaging, address book and calendar applications, giving consumers one reliable source for their most vital information.
This the first time Yahoo!7 has brought a comprehensive set of its services into a single mobile application. Users will be able to register for a new Yahoo! ID directly from a mobile device, by clicking on the Yahoo! Go Mobile icon on their mobile phone.
Gregan McMahon, head of mobile at Yahoo!7, said that Yahoo!7 has taken advantage of an opportunity to work closely with Nokia and create this mobile service. According to him, Yahoo! Go Mobile is a result of Yahoo!’s efforts to satisfy the needs of their users – to give them “a single way to connect them to their information and content while they are on the go”.
Looking ahead, McMahon said Yahoo!7 would look toward providing more social networking and collaboration tools such as text and video blogs via Go Mobile.
