Only 12 months ago there were 2 billion mobile phones around the world. A year later, things have changed with half billion added, reaching the total number of 2.5 billion mobile phones in use.
A quarter of the growth is (of course) coming from China and India, two of the most inhabited countries. But the growth is also coming from Russia, USA, Pakistan, Ukraine, Brazil, Indonesia, Nigeria and Bangladesh.
The cellular industry took 20 years to reach 1 billion connections, three years to reach 2 billion connections and is on target to reach its third billion in a period of just over two years.
