In Apple, Symbian, iPhone
I’ve stumbled upon an interesting article on the::unwired. The author, Alfredo Padilla, discusses some issues about the highly-anticipated Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s iPhone and sees some very interesting possibilities in a potential Apple/Symbian partnership. However, Apple is known for its closed platform and entering the Symbian realm could be a sort of precedent. Also, Nokia’s recent acquisition of Loudeye indicate that the finish giant is preparing to compete with Apple’s iTunes. On the other hand, I wonder is there a space for yet another mobile platform? I’ve already posted that Forum Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has created a separate category on it Developer Discussion Boards dedicated to the porting to S60 issues.
Well, the discussion is heating up with addition of two subjects – “Porting to Native Symbian, Key Issues” and “Migrating to S60 3rd Edition“.
Once again, I use this opportunity to invite all developers to transfer their existing mobile applications – not just the applications developed for the older S60 platform, but for all other smartphone platforms including Palm (NSDQ: PALM) OS and Windows Mobile – to the new S60 3rd edition platform.
