Nokia 9300(i)/9500 firmware update

Finally, a firmware update for Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Series 80-based devices. The AllAboutSymbian guys even think this is a final lease of life for the platform.
Of course, the update is NOT available online. In order to refresh their devices, Nokia 9300/9300i/9500 smartphone owners must visit an official Nokia service center.
The new firmware (v6.27) update includes:
- Messaging: the smallest zoom level now shows 4 lines, faster opening of SMS and email messages
- The device lock can now be activated without a password
- New browser engine, web navigation to next link by using tab key added
- 2GB memory card support
- Java application memory handling improved
- Video/music playback improved
- General stability improved
I need help. My new Nokia 9300i is failing to connect to internet. It gives a message that the mobile IP cannot work or it is isolated. What do I need to do?

Nokia should let s80 users update thier firmware online.This sucks as there many countries where nokia doesn’t have service centers

Nokia 9300i ….unbeleiveably slow …. i cannot immagine Nokia is making this kind of product .. all my confidence on Nokia is badly shaken ….
contacts cannot open for quiete some time and you have to wait …. too much …
no up dates available on the net !! groups have lot of problems as dont know how to locate groups in the contact list !!!

i bought a second-hand 9300i….. n as a precaution, tried to format it….. but was not able to do it….. then tried deleting the items from the phone memory…..i was successful in doing that…but… now…. some applications like messaging, calender,….etc are not working correctly……i searched for softtware update….but could not find anything like that on web…..
i liked the phone….but….afraid due to these reasons….can u help me recover my phone to the old stage????hope u will do so…..

dear people,
there is no use to ask for the update because even nokia.com doesn’t want to me eiher. if i enter my phone serial number. i get “there are no updates for this phone”
And that some people say that there is a update for the nokia 9300/9500 phone is just full of shit.
Once again people don’t ask for the phone updates thru ohter sources… is for your own protection. believe me i know….

I’ve searched everywhere!! It’s impossible to get a firmware to my 9500 except for going to the dealer’s shop and paying $50 for it!!!!!!! Can anybody help me?? Here’s my email: dark_blueshadow@yahoo.com

You need to take/send the Communicator to a Nokia service centre. The hardware and software to perform the firmware upgrade are only available there. No-one is going to be able to e-mail it to you.
I took mine to Carphone Warehouse, the flash failed and my phone is now completely dead, although working fine when I took it in. They have now had it for 6 months and attempted to return it to me in non working order 5 times now. I refused to accept it back and insisted they send it to Nokia for repair. Still waiting!!!
If you can manange with the current firmware I’d stick with it. It appears the upgrade process is not foolproof and there’s a risk your phone will be trashed, even by a Nokia appointed service agent. Don’t go to Carphone warehouse even if they are your local Nokia service centre.
