Nokia sales in Iran drop like a stone!

By Stefan Constantinescu on Sunday, November 19th, 2006 at 10:09 PM PST In Financial/Corporate News

During the course of the past weeks most of the importers of Nokia (NYSE: NOK)
products in Iran have either ceased Nokia imports, or drastically
decreased it.

Notably, Etisalat and Nokia Golden Services companies that had not
ceased their imports following tariff increases on mobile sets and
their accessories, have now decreased their imports meaningfully so
that they are now importing very famous types with prices below
3000,000 rials ( about $300).

Nokia mobile sets are currently the best sellers around the globe and
according to Taliya News reporter, they are sold either with reputable
firms’ guarantees, or with not so famous firms’ guarantees, or even
with no guarantees and after sale services.

An Etisalat salesman told Taliya News here on Saturday, “We do not
import the latest Nokia models due to the high import tariffs.”

He added, “The more expensive models are imported at much higher costs
due to high import taxes, and this discourages the potential buyers.”
