Pissed off Nokia N73 user’s email to the CEO of Nokia

By Stefan Constantinescu on Tuesday, November 21st, 2006 at 9:51 PM PST In Financial/Corporate News

Dear Sir

I am writing to you to seek your help in improving the
customer support from Nokia (NYSE: NOK), particularly in relation to the Nokia
Software Update (NSU) service, and also your Customer Support service.

I
would kindly ask that you ask one of your people to look at the Nokia
Discussions web pages relating to Software. Also the AV Forums web site
and their pages on mobile phones and specifically the N73 discussion
forum. There are many separate discussion forums on the N73 alone When
they report back to you they will have identified the extremely high
level of complaints about the lack of access to the NSU in relation to
the N73 and other phone models. The Nokia NSU web page says that
updates are available for the N73 but many people cannot obtain the
download. There may be very good reasons for this but Nokia does not
inform people via the Discussion Forum (it has a News page where it
could do this very easily) what the problems are and when they will be
resolved. Similarly, when people email Nokia’s Customer Support they
are getting no response, which is surely unacceptable. I emailed over a
week ago and I have had nor reply.

Due to the lack of
information from Nokia and the continued problems in customers
downloading their software update there has grown immense
dissatisfaction with the N73 and with Nokia as a company. I am sure you
will be concerned about this matter and I would respectfully ask for
your assistance in arranging for Customers to better informed and to
receive prompt responses to complaints and enquiries. All we want is
for the N73 Software Update to be available as quickly as possible or
to be informed of the reasons for any delay and when it will be
available. I hope you can agree that this should not be too much to ask
nor beyond the capability of Nokia.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.

For someone to have to resort to this I can imagine that he has been ignored by a great number of people higher up the corporate food chain. I wonder if this guy emailed any of the team behind the official Nokia Series 60 Blogs for some assistance. Firmware updates have always been a pain in the ass, and Nokia’s software updater tries to make it easier, however it seems to be failing this guy, as well as a bunch of other users in the support forums. Mayday Mayday!

  1. Hmmm…. What is the actual problem? I updated my N73 using NSU.

I don’t know if there are problems with NSU, but I know that people are working very hard to make it a success – and I think they have made good work so far. It might not be perfect yet, but I think it’s vastly better to have an incomplete system than not having one at all. Right?

    > emailed any of the team behind the official Nokia Series 60 Blogs for some assistance

Actually, we S60.com bloggers don’t offer customer support. Of course, I try to help people who contact me directly, but it’s not actually my job. My job is in developing cool S60 apps, and I hope my blogging does not turn into time-consuming customer support, so that I can’t do my real work anymore…

Anyways, let me look into this case.

  2. Thanks for checking out people’s problems. I agree that yes you shouldn’t be handling these issues, but you are as close a contact to Nokia as these people can find.

On you’re blog you say you should get the customer service department to begin a conversation. I can’t agree more.

    Friends,

I am a Nokia man for more than 4 years…

    At present I have 2 Nokia ..1100 & 6070..earlier I had lovely 3610 which I have not opened for more than 3 years…
I replaced it when the device was still working…1100 has been good for more than 6 months now…but 6070 ..
just after 41 days since bought (Bill # P.TNG/27220 dt 5 Jan 2007of Univercell,T nagar,Chennai), 15 Feb 2007, it went sounddless – all other functions were okay except audio.
Your dealer tried and fixed the same ststing loose contact…I hate to repair to brand new Nokia…again on 25 Feb 2007, it again gone mute…I left the phone behind at home and went out of station…all of sudden, on 26 Feb 2007..ring tone started…startling..isn’t it?
Life is full of anxious moments, but I do not prefer to have such moments with my Nokia..The best way is that you replace with a different model with same features or more..

    Thanx..kannan

This is sent this address…since mail to Support.Services@nokia.com bounced back…

I used that phone without any problem for 3 months only.It again starting doing problem from march starting. I would like to tell you ceratin problems with the handset i am facing point wise :-
1.) Headset problem (I was not able to hear call without loudspeaker)
2.) It takes more than 5 minutes in sending a message.
3.) Music Gallery was not opening (Refer below mail for the same, however it was not opening from the date of the replacement).
4.) Games were also not opening.
5.) Hangging problem in the phone.

I gone to NOKIA CARE on 4thApril 2007 in SEC-2,NOIDA.They have given me Jobsheet no. 1200170533 and delivery time of the set given to me was 8th April 2007.I got a call from nokia care on 7th April that they will not be able to provide the set on 8th April due to sortage of components and extend the delivery time of set to 15th April. Here, i would like to appreciate the customer care service of noida centre which is far better than Janankpuri centre, coz they even bother to call me to let me know the status.

I have taken follow up from nokia care on 16th april morning,i get to know that set is ok but its yet to come from reginoal office.Told me to call at 4:00Pm. I collect my set at 5:00Pm and i shocked to see that there is NO MUSIC GALLERY, NO GAMES. But i don’t want to submitt it again as i have lost much of my important calls and it hamper my work also.

On 17th April,I got a call. when i recieve that call, there is no sound. I get to know that same problem occurs again which i mentioned in my problem no 1. I had to attend calls through loudspeaker in office, which is not at all acceptable in office premises. Now set is having problems which i would like to tell you point wise :-

1.) Headset problem (I was not able to hear call without loudspeaker)

2.) Music Gallery is not there in the set.

3.) Games are not there in the set.

4.) Video Editor (Not able to insert video clips and sound clips)
5.) Profiles not able to execute same ringtone which i used to save in a particular profile.
I want to know that Is it the high service standard of nokia.
Do coustomer need to go through all these pains after spanding hefty amount to buy nokia products? I am very much irritate and would not recommened any of the nokia product. Life is full of auxious moments but I don’t prefer to have such moment with my nokia .
I request you to do something urgent basis as I do not have any alternative set and my cell phone book is on in built memory card which I m not able to use

    The Manager,
    Nokia Customer Care,

    Respected Sir,
We are very old customers of Nokia having purchased almost 12 + mobile hand sets from you since Idea cellular had started.

Currently I have an E-62 – 1 G.Silver Nokia mobile phone having IMEI – 359743000054496. And I am not at all satisfied with the product. This mobile gets hanged and also has frequency problem. I had already sent the mobile for repairing purpose at your end for almost 5 times, but still this problem continues. When we were at your service center, quite a few people were having the same problem of E-62. So it’s not only me whose complaining.
I have recently come to know that you have come out with a new mobile an E-65, which is good.
So kindly replace this mobile with E-65. I am ready to pay the difference amount for the E-65 or kindly refund my money and take your mobile back.

    Thanking you,
    Yours faithfully,

    Mr. Deepak K.Madan.

    Hi
My name is sagar aggarwal. I purchased Nokia 6681 in April 06. In April 07 i took the annual meintainance contract(AMC) from nokia at the care centre which is located at A-78, Sector-2 Noida,(UP) 201301.
On 3 june 07 i submitted my handset for repairing at the care centre which is located at A-78, Sector-2 Noida,(UP) 201301. as it was giving me battery backup problem. The mobile used to get switched off after 5- 10 minutes while talking.
They told me that it will take 1 week to get repaired, they took the photocopy of the AMC card. and gave me the manual job sheet stating the problem, imei, and date of delivery of handset.
I called in the service centre on 11 june and ask for the status of the handset they told me that it will take two more days, i went to the service centre in 14 june. there i was been asked to meet Mr. Kundan. I went to him and asked him for the status he told me that it will take maximum of 1 week more.
I went there on 21 june again Mr. Kundan There said that it will take 1 more week and this time he game me his personal no. and said that before coming here i can ring him and ask for the status with him.
I tried calling on that no. many time but he dint picked up the call.
I again went there on 29th of june to get my handset but again i got the same reply this time he said that it is taking more time because it is the case of AMC. I told him that he should have told this to me before but he again appologise and said that within this week my handset will be ready. By this time in decided to complain about this.
I called in the Nokia Care call centre on 011-30303838. there i logged the complaint and they told me that i will get the response within 24 hours which i dint got. I called in Nokia Cust. Care many time.
On 4 july they commited me that ur handset will be ready on 10 july.
I went there on 11 july and this time i was been asked to meet Mr Nishu Bhamras who is the floor manager Nokia Care (Noida Sector 2 centre).
On asking why this is taking so much time he said that it is in the process….
when i further asked him the reason he got irate and he said ” Log yahan par 2-2 mahine wait karte hai aapko to bas 1 mahine 10 din hue hai”
NOW DO U THINK that the statement that he said was right?
The Floor Manager at the Nokia Service centre need to understand what he is talking and what sense does it make.
I asked Mr Nishu Bhamras to provide me with his Employ ID and give me the address of the head office where i can complain regarding the issue!
to this he said we the people woking at the nokia centre dont have the employ ID No. and he told me there is no one above him here and nothing can be done.
when i insisted that i want the employ Id
he further said ” Jo karna hai kar lo, jahan complaint karne hai kar lo mera kuch nahi bigad paaoge”

Now after getting this kindof reply i decided to file a suit against Nokia In the Consumer Court and decided to complain about the behaviour of the floor manager at the customer care no. I called in at the same no. 011-30303838 there i told them the whole episode and they insisted to give them some more time and they promise me that this time the issue will be resolved and they told me that they will write my feedback and forward it to the concerned person they also asked me write a written complaint at the nokia website and they told me that i will get the resolution within 24 hours. I did the same and in the mail i mentioned everything. But till now i havent recieved any reply.

On 17 i called in again at the nokia care Helpline no. and they told me that the handset will be available on 20 july2007.
Yesterday That is 21 july I went to the nokia care centre again. again i was been asked to meet Mr. Kundan. He said that they have sent the insurance claim at the insurance company there he said that it will take 15 more days thereafter they will repair my handset……..

Now people Dont You think that this is really Frustating. The customer care people, the nokia care staff people are really nonsense…. they care damm about the Customers. They think that we are fool here who actually purchase there handset and waits for 2 months to get them repaired.this is relly Frustating.
I mean Its been 50 days now and still its been in Progress of repairing……

This is enoughing Now i have made my mind Within 2 days i will file a suit against Nokia in the consumer Court.

While both of them assured us about the rectification of the problem since they will be keeping the mobile in special care unit, but despite all this, my problem has not been sorted out yet.
To add to my problem whenever the mobile has been sent to Nokia Care, all my stored data vanishes & I am left with no option from your side to help myself with some other set for those seven or twelve days, while my current set is under your observation. My Mobile has started giving me the same problem once again. 33. Hey Amit, Don’t waste your time in finding CEO’s contact. I already have done so without any luck, This is their biggest negative point. Do one thing, Contact nokia care ( not by phone or email ) but local service station and explain them the issue and ask for help. Their phone and email support is rubbish.

After 7 days when I call there they again tell the same story & post phoned the delivery for 3 to 4 days and it is going and going, now one month is over.
My set is lying with Nokia Care for more than a MONTH now DO you really want your customer to go for a legal help in this matter? I am very much irritated and would never recommend any of the Nokia products to anybody. I would rate this as the Poorest of the services that I had ever seen and most pathetic response to customer complaint. I assume that care line is meant for just saying Sorry to the customers and cannot help them in any regards. I would like to take this to media as well and would like to show the nation that what kind of services are given by so called world leader Nokia. (Anyways Media is also hungry about these kinds of issues).

I would seek an early response and quick action for this and I understand that you will appreciate my patience. Now I cannot withstand this anymore and would like to take serious action for this. ONE Month is good enough time for repairing/Replacing the set and if the set is not available in nokia care center it can be managed from any of the Dealers/distributors. I had never imagined this poor service from Nokia and if I get a chance I would definitely look to talk with your Customer Support Country Head. I hope I have made my points very clear and if I do not get a call from your and if this issue is not sorted out immediately, I am going to proceed with suitable action.

Myself Haresh E. Jaiswal, purchased a Nokia N-73 Music Edition Handset from Nokia Priority Dealer, Jalna on 20-07-2007, IMEI : 356406010680782

But within 10 days of purchase I’ve found several problems in that handset which I mentioned below.

    1. While opening camera flap, it doesn’t start the camera and directly goes to settings menu.

    2. While dialing a number from phone book it doesn’t dial the number

    3. But if you restart the handset then it works fine for some hours, and same problem arise after 4 or 5 hours.

After seeing these problems I went to Nokia Priority Dealer, Jalna. And show him the problems I was facing, after seeing the problem he just format the handset and given back to me, but the problem remains same. Then the priority dealer told me to go to the Nokia Care, Jalna.

On 27-Aug-2007 I went to Nokia Care Jalna. And handover my handset to them, they told me that the handset should be sent to HCL Pune.

After 20 days on 15-Sep-2007 my handset came back, but the problem again remains same. Immediately on the spot I’d given back my handset to Nokia Care Jalna, and they sent my handset second time to HCL Pune.

After 8 days on 24-Sep-2007 my handset came back from Pune, but the problem again remains unsorted. Second day on 25-Sep-2007 I’d given my handset to Nokia Care, Jalna. This was the third time my handset is being sent to HCL Pune.

After one month on 25-Oct-2007, Nokia Care Jalna tell me that a replacement (swap) of ur handset is came to them, i went there to collect my phone, but it was not my phone, or it was not a new phone, and great joke is while i start that phone in front of the engineers working at nokia care jalna the handset shows ‘Hardware Failure’, i immediately given back the handset to them

Today more than 2 months are over but there is no reply from Nokia Care, Jalna as well as HCL Pune.

On 27-Aug-2007 I’d given my handset to Nokia Care, and today complete more than 2 months are over but I’m still not get my handset. during this time i’ve called so many persons of nokia, but there is no reply from them

you are lucky u can still have a chance to download ROM to flash your phone. I don’t even have that opportunity. I own a 6230, the software must have “spoilt” by the sync action. I have not able to save contact into the phone memory. the memory status showing that the phone memory is 60% full, but i cannot find a single contact (i have delete all contact). the work around way is to use only SIM contact. I am pretty sure this issue is a software issue and can be easily resolve via a ROM re-flash. but there isn’t one in the market. the only choice is to pay a large sum of $$ to rc to reflash. sigh….

MY N-70 CELL WITHIN WARRANTY IS GIVING PROB OF DOTS , LINES AND ALSTLY SCREEN TURNING MLKY WHITE , THUS NOT ABLE TO ACCESS ANY FEATURES OF THE CELL. ALL EFFORTS ARE IN VAIN TO GET SERVICES AND IM IN DOUBT WHERTHER THE NOKIA CARE CENTERS ARE TO BE BELIEVED OR NOT. ITS MORE OF TIME LAPSING TECHNIQUES BY A COMPNAY LIKE NOKIA LEAVING THE CUSTOMER ON ITS OWN HIGH N DRY. VERY MUCH REGRET TO NOTE THE STAND OS NOT DELGHTING THE CUSTOMERS EVEN THE PROB IS GENUINE.

    Dear All,
I had the misfortune of purchasing a Nokia N73 in Italy – I am Italian – in October 2007; after one week I had already problems of misfunctioning and in the last 4 months my cell has been in assistance more than 10 times..Last time Nokia Care Italy finally decided to replace the inner matrix of the cell, however the same problem is still there! And there is NO ASSISTANCE at all for me. I feel extremely disappointed and a big corporation like Nokia has a behaviour that is intollerable. Can I have a person to talk to in Finland? Do you have at least in the Nokia Headquarters in Finland a customer care department? Thank you.

I gave my Nokia 5200 to Borivali Care Centre,on 28/29 Dec 08, for software update, instead they changed my display, on complaining about it,my display was restored, and software updated(Rs250)but very soon, I found Outgoing audio and the Wires joining two sliders(Strip)damaged and got my strip repaired (Rs 650)but not mike as I had headphones as alternative, recently headphones have stopped being detected by the phone rendering it impaired to outgoing audio, that i went back to nokia care to change mike, mike was changed on 19th but next day again it stopped working, again I gave my phone back to Nokia Care,I recieved it yesterday on 23rd june, but today again mike stopped working, while changing my sim card to other phone ,I felt something unusual in my Battery compartment, When i checked the IMEI number on Battery compartment with that shown on software(*#06#) both were different, obviously my hardware have been tampered with, now ur care guys refuse to acknowledge their mistake,on calling ur call centre,i found them very helpless to provide me any solution to this mess ,WE IN INDIA BUY NOKIA PHONES AT HEFTY PRICE ONLY WITH AN IMPRESSION THAT OTHER COMPANIES DONT GIVE AFTER SALES LIKE NOKIA,If this is what we get as After sales support then why buy NOKIA Phone??If in the name of After sales u r cheating customers in hardware!!!!!!!!Now tell me how can I get my original phone back? and how would you compensate for all the unnecessary exps that i had to make for some IMPOSED repairs that i had to go thru?My details are below,I need reply in a week(7 Days) time or as sooner as u can ,else I shall consider WEB based complaint Support equally useless as ur stores and callcentre,
1.Why is my IMEI number different?
2.Why was my hardware tampered when I gave my phone for Software update?
3.How will I get back my original Phone?OR will I ever get it back?
