I had exactly same problem, never touched my pc or mobile during upgrade, i wasnt even in the room and i still recieved a brick at the end of it.
I had no prob upgrading my N95 with the intended NSU for it.
It seems to be an issue with the NSU designed for the N73
plus the stupid crap cable connector they used on a N73.

she wasn't trying to hack her phone in any way, Nokia made a defective software updater that is bricking phones across the world. while it works very well for a lot of people, it's lethal for a select few. Nokia should research why it's being bricked on these select few and fix the problem immediately with little to no expense to the user.

I don't see why this is Nokia's fault. The NSU works perfectly fine, when used in the way it was intended. Problem is you get people changing their product code to allow them to change their N73 to the N73ME, or they are trying to change the N80 to an N80IE and they don't know what they are doing and they screw up their phone.

For me that's just tough luck. No one should attempt to screw around with their phone if they do not know what they are doing, if they are not prepared to pay the consequences. If Nokia get a lot of grief over this I can see them removing the service. Now *that* would be very annoying, just because of a few who tried to do something they should not have done.
