  1. Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
  2. Open Nemesis Service Suite and click “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
  3. Click on the icon “Phone info”
  4. Click on “Scan”
  5. Change the product code to 0539343 and mark the case “Enable”.
  6. Press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you
might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal
mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of
seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
  7. Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Software Update.
  8. Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
  9. That’s it! When you restart your phone, it should now be the Nokia N73 Music Edition!

Check out the full blog post that explains the differences between the N73 and N73 Music Edition as well as more details in the upgrading process. Mark is nice enough to include download links to every application you’ll need in order to preform this modification. This is a simply firmware update folks, but I give you warning now that I’m not responsible if you break your phone. This is a hack, and it should be treated as such.

Now as for Nokia, why aren’t you offering this as some sort of option is beyond me. Why must you put a user thru all of this? I strongly believe in firmware updates that not only fix bugs, but add new features. It makes the customer appreciate your product and brand a lot more because instead of saying: "Hey look we just launched a new phone that does this this and this, your current mobile can’t!" you can now say: "Hey look, the phone you have now, we added some new features! Check them out and we hope you enjoy them!"

The relationship with the consumer is cemented at that point.
