I can’t thank my Nona Maas enough. Earlier today I posted a request for some assistance. I couldn’t get my bluetooth enabled laptop to use my Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E61 as a modem. Well low and behold I finally cracked it! I’m posting this guide so that anyone in the future can figure it out.

First off I’m assuming you have the Nokia PC Suite installed, open it up:

Clickconnect

Now click connect to the internet, if you get an error don’t worry about it, I made this guide so we can fix this error! The screenshot below is just showing you how I have made a successful connection. At this point you want to hit the settings button:

Onetouch

Now hit configure the connection manually:

Clickmanually

At this screen just hit next, you want to use the Standard Modem Over Bluetooth:

Clicknext_1

Here is the part that kept on tripping me up. In the access point text box, enter in wap.voicestream.com

Leave the other two text boxes empty and hit finish.

Clickwap

We’re not done yet, we still have to change one more thing. Go to your control panel and open up the Network Connections. You should see a "Standard Modem Over Bluetooth" at the top in the dial up group.

Networkconnections

Double click that icon [standard modem over bluetooth] and you should see this menu. Now leave the username and password feilds empty, but for the number we’re going to dial enter in *99***1#

Your screen should look like this:

Dialthisnumber

Hit dial! Windows will ask you if you want to make this the permanent number, just hit OK. Now you’re fully setup. Anytime you want to connect to the internet just open up the Nokia PC Suite and hit "Connect to the Internet" and it should just do its thing and work!

I am using version 6.82.22.0 of the Nokia PC Suite and Windows XP SP2, this entire post was made over my bluetooth connection!

I want to thank Nona Maas again for leading me into the right direction! Now for $6 I can connect to the net, although a little slow, anywhere in the country!

Don’t believe me? Just check out my bill!

Way to go. I knew you had it in you. Happy surfing. And you were right – t-mobile would not have helped. FYI – if you do the Blackberry add-on for unlimited email and browsing – wap.voicestream.com will work as well. No problems with BlackBerry Connect on T-Mo to speak of.

I have done all of the above-mentioned step…I can receive e-mail through my outlook, I seem to have a connection. I just can’t get my web pages to load on my CPU; I have tried IE as well as Mozilla. Did I miss something?
