Dear Nokia, call Toshiba: They invented a 3 inch screen that does 800×480

Toshiba (OTCPK: TOSBF) is presenting their 3" TFT wide display screen on the ITU communication trade show. Already implemented on some mobile phones, the product use low temperature poly-silicon which produces high contrast image on the wide screen. Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) reported the similar product back in July but the Toshiba display module has a higher resolution of 800 x 480 pixel.

Sigh, just when we find out that Series 60 v3 FP1 supports VGA screens this has to happen! Don’t you just love the tech industry?! All hail innovation <3
More pixels = more data
More pixels per inch = sharper displays
Nokia (NYSE: NOK) … just ask Toshiba for some prototypes to play with, please!
UPDATE: I just crunched some numbers, the Nokia N95 has a 2.6 inch screen at 320×240 = ~154 DPI. Toshiba’s beautiful saliva production inducing display with 3 inches at 800×480 = ~311 DPI.
That’s 2x the density. You hear that Phil? Two freaking times!

Hehe, that is sweet. Any idea how the battery lasts with that thing?
No clue, I contacted Toshiba to see if I can get the white paper on this device, but I highly recommend you guys just ask for a sample and run your own tests pertaining to battery life and image quality.
I do agree tho, really really sweet, I hope it’s a 16M color LCD, not 65K.
