Nokia works on smell sensors, solar charging!?

Apparently Nokia is working to bring all kinds of sensors integrated in their mobile devices. According to the interview from Reuters India, Nokia sees this as one of the components of the future mobile devices. The fact is that sensors will play an important role in the future, as we can already see in the success of Nintendo’s Wii gaming console. So far, Nokia has a single device with the built-in motion sensor - namely Nokia 5500 Sport.

However, the usage of the motion sensor is still not that clear - there isn’t a single usable application for the sporty 5500. But, Nokia argues that “sensors will be big. They will be able to detect movement, location, altitude”. With the addition of a smell sensor, users will be able not just to take photos from their journeys but to take a smell of a foreign country to bring home and release to their friends.

Furthermore, in its pursuit to become the single most recognizable brand in the world, Nokia also bets on the eco projects. Imagine a phone that never needs to be charged because of the solar cells hidden under its surface. Wow! :)
