Orb NetworksOrb Networks announced the public release of MyCasting 2.0, the free service that transforms the user’s PC into a personal broadcasting system by unlocking all of the digital media people have on their personal computers. Orb’s free service, MyCasting, works on any Internet-enabled device with a streaming media player without the need for additional software or add-ons (yes, that includes Symbian OS-based smartphones). Furthermore, Orb MyCasting allows people to organize, enjoy and share their music, photos, videos, documents, podcasts and other digital media, as well as watch live and recorded TV and Internet TV, anytime and anywhere they choose, using the devices they already own.

A simple download of the Orb software to an always-on Windows XP PC is all it takes to start MyCasting. For Live and Recorded broadcast TV to work, the PC needs to have a TV tuner card. Total setup of Orb and the TV tuner card takes only about five minutes of time. Even without a tuner card, users can still access hundreds of Internet TV stations and clips from popular video sharing sites (Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Video, YouTube, etc).

The new MyCasting 2.0 brings following features:

  • A new easier-to-use MyCasting application page
  • Multiple view options, including thumbnails, lists, filmstrips, and file trees
  • Expanded TV and video features with embedded flash player for instant video access
  • New and improved mobile interface, with support for upload/download of files directly into users’ channels
  • Build your own program list of your favorite Internet videos
  • Build your own newspaper with new support for RSS content
  • Streamlined interface for sharing channels
  • Add games, puzzles to your MyCast application with Google Gadgets

For those of you who still haven’t got the chance to try out the Orb MyCasting, this is the perfect chance to tune in the “Media Anywhere” trend.
