Nokia and Siemens Networks are forming a 50:50 joint venture to set up a second facility in Kolkata to manufacture switches. The joint venture is likely to manufacture handsets at a later date. Siemens Public Communication Networks, the telecom arm of Siemens, is also likely to be merged with this new entity.

Another emerging market? Who knows. It’s nice that Nokia is setting up shop early however.

    Hi,

I dont think that NSN will be manufacturing handsets. This is Nokia NET Networks and Siemens COMMS joining.

It would be strange to see that happening.

You would know more about this then me hehe so I’d have to agree. I’m just saying maybe it would make sense if they retooled the factory, but that rarely happens in industries moving this fast.
