Nokia 6290 smartphone preview

AllAboutSymbian’s Rafe Blandford had a chance to get his hands on the recently announced Nokia 6290. The new mid-tier clamshell quad-band GSM smartphone runs Symbian OS with S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and sports a 2 MP camera, FM radio, stereo speakers and dual screen.
In its preview, Rafe found that the size of the device (94 x 50 x 20.8 mm) matches feature phones, yet the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 6290 gives retains most of the power of a smartphone. Furthermore, he discusses the clamshell form factor and its “success” with S60 devices. The new Nokia device could be the one that would attract consumers who have thus far shunned high end smartphone devices as too big, too complex and too expensive…
