Nokia hoping to increase it’s penetration of Vertu phones in Vietnam

Super high-end cell phone manufacture Vertu has expressed strong hope for deeper penetration into the Vietnamese market, a source cited the company as saying.

The world’s unique maker of handcrafted, individually hallmarked handsets said this is an ideal period of time for its penetration into a fast-growing economy, said Christopher John Harris, Vertu global marketing manager

Vertu, an arm of Nokia (NYSE: NOK), is selling 20 units here each month, he said, declining to reveal sales and revenue figures since the handset hit the local market in February

The company is now selling Signature, Assent and Diamond models through Vietnamese leading cell phone distributor FPT Distribution – a branch of the country’s largest IT solutions firm FPT Corp

The prices Signature and Assent range between $5,000 and $23,000 each while a Diamond model reaches $42,800

Am I the only one laughing at this? 20 units a month? Excuse me while I collect myself from my bout of humour </sarcasm>
