Sanket from ZDNet India spends 30 days with the Nokia E61

Day 1:

Sourcing issues apart, on reaching home I was pretty happy to open a sealed box! And there it was, nicely tucked in a polythene bag; it looked awesome! Pulling it out, my first impression was holding on to something really wide. I haven’t come across a phone this wide. Switching it ON, the large beautifully display came to life and believe me, this is one hell of a display screen to look at. Fiddling around didn’t take much time as the menu structure is quite the same as any other Nokia (NYSE: NOK) smart phone.

Read on to find out what conclusion he comes up with. Especially about the keyboard. I’m glad that more and more people are trying this phone out. Kind of upsetting that the E62 is in India, not the E61. Then again I don’t think there is enough infrastructure to support wired broadband which in turn powers a WiFi router. I could be wrong tho, any readers in India care to comment?

I’m almost at day 30 with my Nokia E61, I have to check my eBay Sanket from ZDNet India spends 30 days with the Nokia E61 receipt to make sure. Man it’s been such a trip, and it really has changed my life. More on that after my finals when I write my roast.

  1. Vishal says:

E61 is being sold in India since last 8-9 months. I bought mine in Aug 06

  2. Thanks for that bit of news, I didn’t know that!

  3. Jim says:

Broadband is readily available in India as is wifi access at internet cafe’s etc. As usual with developing world deployment the only issue at hand is cost to the common person as well as cost of PC’s is still out of reach, but plenty of middle to upper class people enjoy decent speed broadband at their homes.
