All I want for Christmas is a program that will let me customize the E-Mail key on my Nokia E61

Can a developer whip something up really fast? I mean just a quick little application that will let me choose an application to launch when I hit the e-mail button.

I don’t use the built in email, I like the GMail app. I’m also sure a lot of people would also like a button that when pushed would go straight in to writing a text message. I’m also sure people would appreciate being able to launch whatever it is their little heart desires. S40 is A LOT more customizable then S60 when it comes to this respect.

Any Nokia (NYSE: NOK) developers? Or third party developers?

If you install Good Mobile Messaging, that key is replaced so that when you press it, you’re taken straight into your Good Inbox.

  2. Yes but I like the way Gmail works, how it handles email conversations as well … conversations!

Well, usually the hotkeys in other S60 devices are customizable in the settings menu. E61 is different in this regard if you can’t do it. Happened to me as well when I “uppgraded” my N73 to N73 Music Edition. You loose the configurable multimedia key in the transition, because in N73 ME that button takes you to music player..no other alternatives.

  4. Sigh, this is yet another thing that will go in to my roast.
