Nokia E61Despite having a Nokia N70, Sanket Naik from ZDNet India couldn’t resist the charm of the new Nokia E61 and decided to buy it. After having the E61 for a single month he wrote an interesting article summing-up his experience.

The bottom line, he says, is that the E61 delivers everything that it claims to be. “Though there are few issues such as the lousy keyboard, lack of applications, no camera, it make for the drawbacks by offering where it counts, excellent Internet browsing experience and install email delivery…” Here’s the link to the full article. i have an e61. if it broke, i don’t think i would buy one again.

    [pros]
    * keyboard. probably the main reason for buying. very easy to type long documents.
    * screen. huge and easy to read.
    * battery life. i’ve used pda’s since ’94 and not since i used a psion have i used devices that will last all day no matter what i throw at it. thank you nokia! all your devices are as good!
    * search app. a free addon but adds a global search (about time) to nokia’s os

    [cons]
    * no camera. still carry my n70 for camera and radio.
    * lack of upgrades. vodafones fault not nokias but means i can’t update the os easily.
    * incompatibility of software that i had previously on the n70.
    * bugginess of the internal apps. the word processor has problems reading its own files and doesn’t produce standard text files.
    * bugginess of the internal apps #2. the spreadsheet doesn’t do simple things like cut and paste formulas across a range of cells, rendering it useless.
