Darla says customers need to be educated about S60, but whose responsibility is that?

S60
Darla Mack says the people need to be informed when it comes to S60

I’ll be first to bring it up in this discussion, and I don’t care what people think, but the majority of American consumers are dumb. They like the RAZR because of how thin it is, not because it can do X, Y and Z.

Ask them what operating system the run on their home computer and I bet you’ll here "Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)" or even "Windows"

Ask them what TV they have and they’ll tell you it was the one on sale at Best Buy

Point I’m trying to make is yes S60 is a wicked operating system, and competent people know about S60 vs Palm (NSDQ: PALM) vs WinMo, but do you really think anyone cares what OS their phone runs? More importantly, say people do start caring about what OS they have on their device, whose responsibility is it to educate the consumer?

Have you seen the commercials for the Blackjack, and Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Q? They don’t talk about Windows Mobile, they talk about the life changing experience of having such a powerful device.

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) can start informing people about its products, but watch peoples interest drop like a rock when they find out the price of something like a Nokia N93. Carriers either don’t or offer old Nokia models. They try to offer you a phone for free, after signing away your soul for 2 years of course, and that’s something that appeals to the majority of Americans.

The American telecommunications needs a swift kick in the ass because think of how much it costs to open up one of those Cingular or T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) stores. Think about how many employees get paid weekly working in said communist camps. Handset manufactures need to drop their relationship with carriers like Britney dropped Kevin, stat!

A carrier should sell service and leave the handset sales to handset manufactures, who in turn can do a MUCH better job informing their consumers about what their phones can do.

  1. Rex says:

I feel your pain..even yesterday I’d commented on this, when you’d said about operators acting as pure service providers.
    MOVE TO INDIA! :D

  2. Rex that isn’t such a bad idea. The food is AMAZING the culture is rich the economy is booming I love Bollywood movies and the music is great too.

I do plan on visiting India before I die but right now I’m just a broke college student. Besides my short term goal right now is to finish my degree, get a masters on top of that, and then see about moving to Europe!
