Nokia N93i revealed
Posted by Dusan on Monday, January 8th, 2007 at 9:28 am under Devices, NSeries, Nokia, Symbian
We knew it was coming and… today Nokia unveiled the slimmer and more compact in design, successor of its award-winning N93 - N93i. The new device brings the same-as-N93 DVD-like video quality, thanks to its MPEG-4 VGA video capture at up to 30 fps, stereo audio recording and digital stabilization. The N93i also sports a 3.2 megapixel (2048 x 1536 pixels) camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 3x optical zoom, autofocus and close-up mode, as well as 2.4″ main display (16 million colors, 160° viewing angle).
However, this time Nokia decided to bundle its new device with a decent miniSD memory card of 1 GB. In the N93i, Nokia also integrated a new personal video and photo blogging service called Vox with privacy features that let users share stories and thoughts instantly with their friends, family, neighborhood or the entire world. Select your video or photos in the gallery of your Nokia N93i and upload them directly from your device to Vox in their original size.
Now the downsides - there’s no mentioning of HSDPA and A2DP. Also, the N93i is NOT based on the latest Symbian s60 3rd edition Feature Pack 1 - it runs the “standard” S60 3rd edition.
The Nokia N93i is expected to start shipping in volumes during the first quarter of 2007 with an estimated, pre-tax, unsubsidized sales price of approximately 600 euros.

DO you want to use this on T-mobile US? If so, an unlocked version should work just fine with your network.

This phone is quite impressive in terms of features, and, at time of writing, includes most of the smartphone features considered standard, with the notable omission being GPS (although an external Bluetooth GPS such as Tom Tom could be used).
The camera is brilliant, though in low light conditions, the picture becomes dark and grainy. The optical zoom is brilliant and makes up for its inability to make up a made up maid.
What I meant was it makes up for the comparatively low number of Mega Pixels offered. A higher Mega Pixel Camera will produce photographs and videos with a higher resolution. However, when distant details need to be captured, a digital zoom creates a badly pixelated image, and the detail of the image is lost. The N93i’s zoom is excellent, and for most semi-professional film-makers this mobile phone will be ideal for experimentation. The video playback is exceptional, as is the music player. Due to the telephone’s unique look, it is unlikely to have many imitators so will always appear distinctive.
Mind you, a dedicated camera with the same specifications will still produce far superior results.
Overall, I found this phone very satisfactory and purchased a second unit since they are becoming hard to find after Nokia discontinued the model. For the next few years I would like to use this as my main phone.
On a final note, whilst I have no objection to people who cannot express themselves properly in language, I find it quite disconcerting that people posting on weblogs show how many people have problems with literacy. Some of the comments posted here make no sense.
Oh well…

Oh Yes, and video calling is awesome on this unit. Put it on your desk in landscape mode, keep your hands free, and just talk. There is a flashlight too!
A terrific phone, which is a lot of fun to use!!
