In a previous job I was head of sysadmin'ing and had to look after our laptop support contract. We had alot of people working in Asia, US, and Caribbean (we were an Irish based Internet company). We had to pay for getting support from the manufacturer for laptops *bought* in Ireland, but requiring to be serviced in Asia, US, etc. I am not sure if other phone manufacturers do worldwide support yet. I would doubt it. Palm I know do not (as I found out when I tried to get my Treo 650 serviced). I would suspect that Nokia (along with other vendors) will do this in the future.
