This is a partial solution … what happens when you want to view websites that embed YouTube videos? That’s the kicker for me.

Still waiting on Nokia (NYSE: NOK) to announce their working with Adobe to make Flash 9 work on the new N800. It’s a shame that the two things I love more than anything, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Reader and YouTube, work so poorly on this internet tablet.

Thanks for linking to me again, Stefen. I sent the following directly to Orb:

Already readers (and other bloggers: http://www.ringnokia.com/2007/01/orb_makes_youtu.html) are asking for some kind of solution to re-code YouTube videos on demand instead of having to search for them. Can we put into the “suggestion” queue an extension that allows users to paste a YouTube video into their Orb site and then have it stream back the requested video?

    Thanks!

Also: If you ever want to ping me directly on questions or suggestions for Nokia Internet Tablet hacks, you can find my AIM name easily. One guess on what it is. :D

Adobe offers Flash 9 Player as .RPM on their website. The N800 runs debian right? Go to a linux PC, convert the rpm with alien, and put the .deb on the N800 and maybe it works.

  3. lutzs: the released version is for a different architecture. x86 versus the TI OMAP.

Google reader on the tablet works well if you use the Reader Mini layout:

    Hello all,
I want to share my bad experience on nokia dot com Europe, trying to purchase the N800 :
It’s the third order I am sending, as in the first two, my Gold credit card didn’t pass the financial test, now I sent another with another credit card, because I want to see if it’s a problem with my specific Gold card issue..
Honestly, i strongly doubt that a card with several thousand euro plafond might be refused..
Anyhow, I wish anyone who purchased or tried to do it at Nokia direct shop could share the experience, as I am quite frustrated!!!
I start thinking that there’s something behind… Maybe they run out of item, or something else…
Anyhow, I wanted first to aware anyone who might read, as it seems they don’t want to sell the N800 so easily…
Maybe you need to deserve it????

  7. Trendy: why not try another credit card? that makes sense to me.

I have two, and if that doesn’t work then I just call up my friend who also has a chase account, put the money in his account, and then he lets me use his credit card.

then again i’ve known him for a decade so that’s how we trust each other so much.

Thank you stefan for your answer!
Thta’s what I did yesterday, I order it for the third time with another credit card of mine.
I’ll wait tomorrow, and see what is the answer..
I forgot to say that I called the toll free call center about 5 times to get an explanation, and the answer was they were sorry, but the financial tool is out of their contol, so they apologize but don’t have an explanation!
I also told them to call my bank…
No clue, it’s since the 770 came out the I was waiting and now that is out I really want the N800 badly!!!
I don’t know, i was hoping to find anyone that experienced the nokia direct service, and read his experience…
