VOX for S60: A baby step in the right direction

Check out this excellent VOX for S60 review: Nokia S60 3rd Edition Applications Review (NOTE: links to this app for S60 v1 and v2 devices are also in the review)
Blogging is in right now, no doubt about it. Everyone and anyone is starting one, for better or worse. Some people have been blogging since 2000, others since last week. Why would someone in their right mind start another blog just to have the capabilities Nokia (NYSE: NOK) offers on their devices?
Think about all the people who use MSN Spaces, Yahoo 360, Typepad, Wordpress (huge among the influential people of our industry), and Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’s Blogspot. They aren’t going to change their platform of choice just because their mobile phone has built in blogging support for VOX, and only VOX.
It’s great that Nokia is trying to get people in to using their mobile devices to share content. That’s the main reason people take pictures to be honest, to show everyone. I commend them for the effort, but its one step too small. I just have one small request for Nokia:
Why not let people blog from their phone on whatever blogging platform they fancy? The API’s for every single blogging engine under the sun are out for anyone to look at. I can’t honestly imagine it taking a team of 5 more than 2 weeks to write such an S60 application.

i think the interesting thing about vox for s60 is the ability to upload password protected pictures and videos to a website for friends and family to see, not only blogging (although nokia obviously had to market it that way when teaming up with vox)
I have used Shozu to make contributions to wordpress, flickr & Youtube. It works fluently and even integrates into camera application. I don’t see any problem that Nokia officially supports VOX while we still can use free third-party applications.
Shozu has size limits that really are unacceptable. 4 mb video files … that’s rather poor.
What about Lifeblog? You can blog to LiveJournal or typepad by just entering the atom URL. Although it could do with some improvement-one can’t save drafts, for instance.
VOX is the best application i ever used on my n80…3GB free storage, uploads of everything, fast one-button upload, blogging…this is simply amazing!
I joined. Looks nice and it is easy to get started.
