Nokia producing music reality tv show in Nigeria

Nokia (NYSE: NOK), the world leader in mobile communications, has extended its support for the Nigerian entertainment industry further, by partnering with Reflux Productions Limited and DaWorks Records UK to launch Nigerian youths into international stardom.
The launch pad is the search for a true Nigerian voice, which can compete effectively on the International entertainment stage, in the Nokia First Chance, a new interactive TV reality show soon to air on select local and satellite TV stations.
Area Manager, Nigeria Ghana & Liberia, Vithesh Reddy, said Nokia’s decision to support the music reality TV show was buoyed on its commitment to developing Nigerian initiatives centered on supporting the Nigerian youths. Particularly in this case when they passionately aspire to both become international stars and project Nigeria positively.
Following the recent success of Nokia’s past music project, the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon, a dance competition where young Nigerians excelled and entrenched Nigeria into the Guinness Book of World Records, Nokia’s Channel Marketing Manager, Beatrice Olumhense, stressed that "Nokia wants young Nigerians to continuously aspire and believe in themselves with the certainty that Nokia will back them all the way to the top."
The Producer, Reflux Productions Limited, Mr Segun Giwa, said "Nokia First Chance will captivate viewers as they discover the vast talent and vitality of our youths, while the participants will be exposed to positive role models who are glowing sources of inspiration themselves."
Giwa explained that the production of Nokia First Chance commenced with auditions in November 2006 and will soon be aired on select TV stations across Nigeria.
The winner of Nokia First Chance will receive N1million and a sign-on album deal to be produced and released Internationally by DaWorks Records.
Nokia First Chance will be the first music talent show in Nigeria to deliver on its promise of an International record deal for winners.

I never even knew that this type of thing was done by Nokia. Brand recognition is the obvious motive, but maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Nokia really does want to connect people. Good stuff indeed.

why is yinka davies so full of her self?i think she shouldn’t be among the judges she so proud i prefer the beautiful lawyer yinka is not make the contestant happy she is the word “discouragement” i want an immediate reply

If you missed the first episode of Nokia First chance, you may be excused, but missing the second episode is unforgivable! I mean the billboards and radio promos are everywhere.
In the second episode, the contestants were narrowed to the last 50 a bumper packed show with a potpourri of talent and the lack thereof was exhibited as all the contestants struggled like lobsters in a boiling pot of water to survive, we all know only the strong survive.
We watched as Joy who lost her voice still managed a falsetto that blew Yinka Davies away and shattered our louvers and Justine not wanting to be outdone, tried to deafen poor Jazz with hers. Christine had a make over as in Episode 1 we saw Jazz advising her to dress more her age than a granny and she listened! Don Chi-Chi gave us the sequel to his Diana story and Fadina gave us jazzed up spoken word in Yoruba…talent ti po ju (go figure). In the world of Style, Enjel came with his personal couture tip and Miss Akintola, introducing the ‘no shoes’ concept she hopes it will catch on once she becomes famous. Well, it didn’t work for Sinead O’Connor but since they say fads recur, we’ll wait it out without holding our breath.
There was a series of déjà vu and remixes by contestants who did not understand that they were actually getting a second chance on first chance, excuse the pun. The highlights goodwill message from UK boy group and award winning, Fundamental 03 and getting to know the judges (Yinka Davies and Ifeoma Williams, if you ever wondered why she’s one of the judges, all doubts cleared; style is important if you’re going to be an international star let alone Nigeria’s newest international star).
Things to look out for are goodwill messages from Nigerian born UK superstar Lemar, Wale Adeyemi, perhaps Lionel Richie and many more. One thing’s certain, Nokia First Chance is a must watch with everything you desire in entertainment including eye candy Isis. Catch NFC on STV Saturdays 9pm-10pm and Galaxy TV Sundays 7-8pm, Mondays on Unilag FM 11 am, Cool FM 6:30pm and Tuesdays on Rhythm FM 1:30pm.

The 1st chance concept is the best av sin so far.I was among the contestants and out of 4000,made it to the the final 50.My eviction was well deserved cos i noe i screwd up on dat phase of audition.Pls I wuld like 2 find out from the NFC cru if they’ll be anoda edition next yr?(i min a 2nd 1st chance).I want 2 thank the orgs of the show esp. For me, this competition did it once again: it restored my belief that Nigeria does truly have hope inspite of all. I saw young men & women give their all into what they did. Yes, they had a few glitches as rookies of course but on the whole, i’m proud to be a Nigerian & to boldly declare “Nigeria has a very bright future”. I sing too so maybe that’s why this whole experience has humbled me.
To all the contestants: you’ve been simply great! Dont let anyone take your dream away from you! The best is yet to come if you’d just hang in there. I’ll be Veeerrry rough sometimes, but eventually you’ll reap the friut of all your labor.you’ll see!
To the judges: For me it simply does not matter who judges. (They’ve been great)The emphasis for me will always be: do you have what it takes on the inside?
On the whole, it’s been worth my while.
