MobileZoo has indepth Nokia E90 specs

The thing is, I have no clue what all of this means.

Nothing to copy and paste, just brace yourself and read all of this.

In case Nokia (NYSE: NOK) makes them take this information down, I downloaded the website, and zipped it up.

The only thing I know is that these specs confirm some of the information that was pulled down from My-Symbian almost 2 months ago:

The device is based on S60 3rd Edition (3.1, Feature Pack 1). It’s a
clamshell like all older Communicators and it has two screens. The
external screen is 240×320 (it’s a typical S60 3rd Edition screen)
while the internal screen is……….. 800×352 pixels!!!! YES! It’s
large and it’s of fantastic quality! It shows the same UI as the
external screen but in a different resolution which looks like three
E61 screens in a row The nicest thing is that all applications can be
run on EITHER of the screens.

UPDATE: I just crunched some numbers thinking that there would be more pixels on this screen versus VGA. I was wrong. VGA (640×480) has 25,600 more pixels. To give you an idea how big that is, it’s a screen with a resolution of 160X160.

Just something I wanted to share.

Other things to note:

• Firmware: 07.02.3.1
• CPU is 2.3x faster than a Nokia E61. How did I work that one out? The CPU in the E90 scored 176609 Points, while my Nokia E61 only scored 74862 Points. If we apply that logic, the E61 having a CPU speed of 235 MHz means that the E90 has a frequency of (176609/74862)x235 = ~ 550 MHz. Which TI OMAP processor runs at 550 MHz? The TI OMAP3430: here is a full spec sheet!
• The TI OMAP3430 is a 65 nm product unlike the OMAP 1710 in the Nokia E61 which is 90 nm. That means reduced power draw = increased battery life. Then again I bet a lot of juice will be needed to power that 800×352 screen.
• If I find anything else out I’ll keep updating this post, right now I need to go to physics.
• William points out that the E61 is actually 220 MHz. The E62 uses the 235 MHz processor. Thanks.

Oposum has just disproved my theory entirely. Thank you for catching this.

MobileZoo has a lot of Java scores for the Nokia E61. Some of them are much higher than mine. Why such a difference in speed? I don’t understand it completely to be honest.

According to his number crunching the processor could only be 323 MHz, putting it in the same league with the Nokia N93.

All I know is that there are 6 more days until 3GSM!

Hey Oposom: According to some googling, the Nokia N93 uses the TI OMAP 2420. The video processor on that board doesn’t support anything larger than a VGA screen. We know that the E90 will do 800×352. There is enough pixel power in the TI OMAP 2420 to push that resolution with room to spare. The TI OMAP 2420 also supports a second QVGA screen, which matches the description given on My-Symbian. I think you are correct when you say that the E90 will use the same chipset as the Nokia N93.

Yet another update:

One N93 on MobileZoo scored 207509 Points, which is almost 31,000 points more than the Nokia E90. I’m just just going to go out on a limb here and say that the "CPU Speed Indice" is not an accurate representation of performance due to many outside factors. What other applications are running? How long has it been since the phone reboot? What firmware revision is it? What OS (S60v3 versus S60v3FP1) is running?

The numbers are too volatile to make an accurate prediction. We’re just going to have to wait until the official tech specs get revealed by Nokia.
