Nokia Mobile Search adds ability to search for content stored on your device

By Stefan Constantinescu on Friday, February 9th, 2007 at 6:41 PM PST In Applications, Corporate News

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today announced that its Mobile Search application is now able to search for content stored on your device, ranging from emails, text messages and calendar entries to videos and music files. Just like with desktop search applications on a PC, Nokia Mobile Search indexes the information stored on your compatible Nokia device and then lets you search to find what you want, when you want it.

"Nokia Mobile Search has proven to be a hit with people who want access to information and services at their fingertips and now we’re bringing that same ease of use to search for content you already have on your Nokia device," said Ralph Eric Kunz, vice president, Multimedia Experiences, Nokia. "Whether you are trying to find a calendar entry, find the SMS your friend sent days ago, or track down a multimedia file you downloaded, Nokia Mobile Search is the easiest way to find what you are looking for on your device."

Working with over 20 partners from around the world and available in over 40 languages, Nokia Mobile Search is a simple, convenient, and fast way to find and connect to content you want - whether on the Internet through local service providers or search engines or already stored in yourcompatible device - directly from your Nokia device.

Nokia Mobile Search with My Content search supports the Nokia N95, Nokia N93i, Nokia N93, Nokia N92, Nokia N91, Nokia N91 8GB, Nokia N80 Internet Edition, Nokia N80, Nokia N76, Nokia N73 Music Edition, Nokia N71, Nokia E70, Nokia E62, Nokia E61, Nokia E60 and Nokia 3250 devices and available as a free download for compatible Nokia devices from http://www.nokia.com/mobilesearch.

i tried out the mobile search software on my N70 by getting the link via sms & all it seems to do is online search through yahoo or windows live & its got a good yellow pages directory which helps u find anything in ur city(if listed) & is quite reliable & handy…. it also has good maps for places tht even google maps doesnt…. but i cant seem to get it to search for stuff on my mobile… not bad app but doesnt do wht it said.. ie mobile searching… btw i used yahoo as the web service

  2. Well, we’d review it if it existed yet! Nokia still seem to have the old ‘online only’ version up. 8-(

Do you think anyone’s actually told Nokia about this boo-boo yet?

…it seems tht the content search option is only available for S60v3 & so my n70 can only do online browsing rather than content searching….. could u do a review on it? thanx man

ps. yeah i understand its all part of the master plan of NOKIA’s marketing & businesss strategy but having one almost perfect device atleast in this lifetime wouldnt hurt business tht bad would it?

  4. Henrikki says:

Yahoo works best for me as well as a web search.. I’m trying the Microsoft Live! too from time to time, but Y! seems to be doing a better job at the moment.
