During the 3GSM World Congress, Boingo Wireless Inc. announced that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program and has demonstrated its port of Boingo Embedded Wi-Fi Toolkit to Symbian OS. The Boingo Embedded Wi-Fi Toolkit offers Symbian OS licensees the opportunity to integrate seamless Wi-Fi roaming connectivity into their dual-mode handsets.

The initial port, demonstrated at the Forum Nokia (NYSE: NOK) PRO arcade at 3GSM World Congress, supports S60 software on Symbian OS. A subsequent port will support UIQ on Symbian OS later this year.
The Boingo Embedded Wi-Fi Toolkit enables Wi-Fi and dual-mode smartphones to easily and transparently authenticate to Boingo’s Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide. Users will be able to turn on their devices and enjoy a broadband Wi-Fi connection when in range of any Boingo Hot Spot in venues such as hotels, airports, convention centers, truck stops, and retail stores around the world.
