Straight from Ari Jaaksi’s blog:
We had a Pop Sci party yesterday at the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Flagship store at Manhattan.
We launched the Nokia N800 challenge. The idea is this:You
come up with the most compelling application, service, script, hardware
addition or anything that you will use on the Nokia N800. You send your
idea to the challenge as explained here.
Your entry must be creative, useful, appealing, fun, versatile, or
extremely innovative — something that truly impacts people’s lives. The
entries will be judged by members of Nokia staff and the editors of
Popular Science. They will select two of the best Nokia N800
innovations. The first winner will be featured in the May issue of the
magazine and the second winner will be featured in the June issue. Each
winner will show off his or her winning idea in the Popular Science
magazine.Your idea must not be necessarily an application running within the N800. It can be server or network based, and idea of controlling or monitoring something using the inbuilt apps
on N800 etc. To my mind, the most important aspect of a good idea is
that it utilizes the unique features of the N800 — portability, good
screen, connectivity, openness, and so forth. So let’s be creative out there.

This is not brain surgery. What do most couch potatoes do????? Surf and watch TV… duh.. it needs a TV tuner. My dream devise is a GPS, cell phone, wireless computer, with movies, songs and TV… and other than the wireless headphone/cell phone devise…I can throw the rest away and finally pull up my pants all the way.
I have speech and hearing difficulties. I would like somehtnig this portable with the typtetalk software on maybe a small portable folding keyboard can be attached, it could also be used as a communications device that could speak what you type. Not everyone i meet can sign and would be easier to carry about that special communication devices. The web camera feature is great for video calling to communciate with other people who can sign or just to be able to see their lips as they are talking. It has great potential as a communications device to make a difference to people with hearing/speech problems.
