First of all when I say N-Gage 2.0 I don’t mean a device. From what I gather it is an application that will come standard with many S60v3 devices. N-Gage is a platform now, not a device.

Nokia is planning to launch new enhanced handsets that will allow users to play videogames on them, according to a report published by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on its website, citing people familiar with the plans.

The newspaper said the Finnish telecommunications giant is planning to release its new models in the summer.

The new phones are thought to be similar to the company’s high-end phones, but will be equipped with game keys.

Nokia, according to the WSJ, hopes to avoid the problems of its previous device, called N-Gage, which did not sell well and the company stopped selling it from the second half of last year.

No-one was available at Nokia for immediate comment.

This falls exactly in to line with the September release date that was posted then retracted on the Future Watch blog.

First 3 weeks of September are still considered summer time since Fall doesn’t begin until the 21st.
