The LED on the Nokia E61i won’t be useless!

Ed from E-Series just got his hands on quite a number of screen shots from the E61i. I suggest you check all of them out. This one in particular caught my eye:
I’ve had many mobile phones in my life time. My favorite one right now is definitely my Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E61. Sure the vibration feature is weak and the LED notification only works for email, but it is will always have a place in my heart.
Nokia seems to have fixed at least one of my gripes with the addition of this menu. You can now be notified of missed calls and text messages. Absolutely glorious.
Would it be too much to ask that the next firmware update for the E61 we can somehow get this functionality?
For those of you who want a Nokia E61i don’t forget to sign up for notification of availability.

yea, i hope so too that this will come with the next firmware.
but btw. i was able to use the flash light not only for emails. with some beta jabber messenger for s60v3 and an extra program it managed to flash when i got a new (jabber-)message. i think this would need some re-coding to get this to work with short message service.
we will see.
firmware updates usually are for fixes, not new features
You can allready get the LED working with the RemindMe application for missed calls and text messages for the E61.
10 euros for something that should have been built in from the start …
i think not
Sigh, will we ever get that on the N series? And timed profiles, although that’s on S60v3 3rd FP!
