Tip: Glass can be hot without looking hot

By Stefan Constantinescu on Wednesday, March 7th, 2007 at 10:29 PM PST In Blog Updates

2 days with almost no sleep and tonights lab was quite memorable because of it.

I’m physically fine, but my heart sank as I saw that flask plummet to the ground. The solution that I spent nearly 150 minutes creating spread on to the floor in an even, orange, almost metallic like coat. Rush to get a broom? Dust pan? Hardly. I got a pipette, a test tube and then tried to salvage what results I could.

I did not know that piece of glass was hot and I certainly found out the hard way.

My professor stayed cool and concerned himself more with the condition of my minor burn than the experiment I just carried out in vain.

Thank you for caring.

As I’ve said earlier in the week: midterm week is cramping my free time to blog. It will all be over soon.

Then I can look forward to finals week!

Good Night America; Good Morning Finland.

    how’s the burn?

  2. I’m tip top. Thanks for asking.

It was just one of those things where I picked it up, the nerves were a little slow that day and when my brain got the message “this is pretty pretty hot” my hand just opened and released everything I was holding.

Less than 72 hours to heal, if that. Minor redness. Doesn’t affect me at all.
