Nokia N75 delayed by Cingular

By Stefan Constantinescu on Friday, March 9th, 2007 at 2:54 PM PST In Ideas and rants

See what happens when you buy a phone from an operator?

Do yourself a favor and buy unlocked. If you’re in Europe than go for Expansys, if you’re in America then check out Mobile Planet.

I’m not being paid to plug those two sites, they’re just highly known among the importing crowd.

If you want to know where I got my Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E61 it was a little company called Saber Point.

  1. Ricky Cadden says:

my favorite place to shop for unlocked phones is fonegrabber.com. It scours ebay for the more legit auctions and gives you them in an easy to read page. I used it to buy my N80 and to compare prices on other units, as well.

  2. A past expansys buyer says:

DO NOT buy from expansys or Mobile Planet, why?

In a nut shell, they provide good customer service when you buy something i.e. a phone but when you need customer service the level of service is below par.

I bought a phone which developed a fault, it was sent to expansys and delivered back to me 3 times with the same fault over a period of 4 months to repair and return.

On the third time I sent the phone back they agreed finally to replace the model but it has taken another 3 months of constant emailing and calling to get the replacement, it is supposed to be on its way as I’m writing but I find it hard to believe because they have told me that a few times already.

I bought the phone off of them used for 4 months and has spent 7 months being repaired and replaced.

  3. That certainly isn’t a happy ending.
