I wish more companies would produce little clips like this. Truphone "gets it" when it comes to adopting new technologies for building better relationships with consumers. Video tutorials that are shot by real people who don’t talk down to you or have zero fluctuation in their voice shows that they really love their product and want you to check it out.

No amount of marketing will ever replace a proper product demo. With youtube and a decent camcorder anyone can become a useful source of information.

You can install and use Nokia Software Updater without PC Suite. The Updater then loads the Connectivity Cable Driver from Nokia and installs it. So no need for installing PC Suite.

  2. One thing to keep in mind with the N80i if you use or want to use Shozu is that they don’t support this version of the phone.

  3. Worried says:

Since we have to have the SIM card in. Would anything happen if you get a phone call during the update?

  4. If you’re that paranoid then just flash your phone at 3AM when no one will call you :-)

I seriously think they Nokia thought about that scenario already, I could be wrong but I haven’t heard otherwise.

  5. Muza says:

Hi! I tried to do update, but when I launch updater I get message N80 is desconnected from PC. Any idea what’s wrong. I tried reboot both – mobile and notebook. Still not working. Thanx for help Muza

  6. I don’t know what to tell you really. If you follow the instructions in that video correctly then it should just work. Perfectly.

Try again is the best I can do.

Have you tired barablu on the N80 – it’s awesome.

Do you suppose that this process might work on a Mac pretending to be a windoze machine? (Either as virtual pc or under parallels)
Appears that Nokia does not support Mac for firmware updates. A dumb decision on Nokia’s part – but it is what it is.
