MontaVista Software’s leading mobile Linux distribution has recently found another partner. Italy-based OEM, Enteos, will use MontaVista’s Linux on its two smartphones – iGO730 and LinAP. Enteos expects that such, Linux-based devices which will among other things bring a WiFi connectivity, will attract business users. I guess that these two devices will soon hit the Italian mobile market through TIM, with whom Enteos already made some business in the past.
The mobile Linux is rapidly growing with many distributions being offered today. However, MontaVista’s version is the leading one, and so far has been used by such handset makers as Motorola, Panasonic, LG and NEC.
