Bebo Mobile To Launch On Orange

The uber-popular social networking site Bebo has been rumored to be launching a mobile version. Rumors hinted at O2 (NYSE: TEF) being the carrier of choice for Bebo Mobile, but Wednesday’s announcement from Bebo confirmed that Orange would be the partner carrier.
The up and coming social networking site plans to go up against the big boy on the block – MySpace Mobile. Bebo users can edit their profile, update the blog, and add friends – all through your cellphone. Those features are quite similar to MySpace Mobile’s offerings, so it’s a good thing that this social network has already been critically acclaimed as ‘Hottest Overseas Technology Prospect’ by the UK Technology Innovation & Growth Forum 2007. And having a former Google director on board as President doesn’t hurt Bebo’s chances either.
With quite the following in the UK, Bebo is slated to launch summer 2007 in the United Kingdom. Of course, there are plans to expand to other markets later in the year – assuming there is no long-term exclusivity contract.
