Mapquest is making it easier to use their mapping service on your mobile device. With the “Send to Cell” option on Mapquest’s website, users can send directions and maps to any browser-enabled mobile phone. So just what are they doing that’s so new? Well, until now, Mapquest’s mobile offerings were pay services – like Mapquest Navigator. But, with today’s announcement, most phones (to the tune of roughly 179 million phones) with mobile browsers will be able to access maps and directions for free!
So the next time you find yourself going in circles, just whip out that web-enabled phone and point your browser at Mapquest’s website. No worries about excruciating load times, as the website detects your mobile phone and serves up an optimized version of the homepage. Add this one to the growing list of mapping services.
