Motorola Goes Official With Four CDMA Mobiles – ROKR Z6m, RAZR maxx Ve, W385, W355

By Will Park on Tuesday, March 27th, 2007 at 12:32 PM PST In Announcements, Devices, Motorola, Verizon

Motorola RAZR maxx Ve and ROKR Z6mMotorola announces four CDMA mobile phones today. They finally dropped the RAZR maxx Ve on us, and it’s everything we expected it to be. With EVDO, 2 mega-pixel camera and touch-sensitive music controls for the integrated mp3 player, this stylishly thin RAZR maxx flip phone takes its place at the head of the table. The ROKR Z6m slider aims to be what the original ROKR wasn’t – a “ROKN” music phone with style and substance. The new ROKR sports a 2 mega-pixel camera, music player (of course), and EVDO – and actually pulls off the whole music-phone thing pretty well. Rounding out the new releases from Moto are the mass-market W385 and W355. The W385 comes to us as a thin clamshell with GPS-location and the W355 rocks a similarly thin flip design with FM radio and speakerphone.

Tipping the scales at only 4 ounces and measuring only 0.6″ thick, the RAZR maxx Ve follows in the RAZR’s stylishly thin footsteps. And to take its new place at the head of Motorola (NYSE: MOT)’s table, the new Ve brings a 2 mega-pixel camera, EVDO, A2DP bluetooth, touch-sensitive music controls, and a microSD expansion slot for up to 2GB of storage. With a scheduled Q1 2007 release, we won’t have to wait very long for the new head of the family to come home. And by home, we mean Verizon (NYSE: VZ).

As Moto’s “re-do” in the whole music-phone segment, the ROKR Z6m embodies what the ROKR was initially intended to be – a stylin’ combo of music player and phone. The slick sliding form factor houses a bevy of multimedia features like a 2 mega-pixel camera, A2DP bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, EVDO, 2″ QVGA screen, and a microSD expansion slot for 2GB of extra space. The Z6m is slated for a Q3 2007 release with Verizon.

W385

The 18.9mm thick phone features a.GPS location service (for quick details on your location), bluetooth, VGA shooter, and comes in a range of “cool colors.” The W385 will be released in Q2 2007.

The W355 does away with the external lcd screen, and instead sports a few sleek status indicator lights on its external face. Power, battery charge, and messaging status can be assessed with a quick glance. The 18.6mm thick flip phone keeps its lines clean and crisp, unmarred by an unsightly camera on its face. But to make up for its lack of a camera, the W355 packs an integrated FM radio tuner and “office quality speakerphone.” It’s scheduled to be released in Q2 2007.
