Sprint’s Pivot Service Announced

Sprint took the wraps off their quad-play service today with the announcement of their Pivot service. Now subscribers can get their voice, wireless data, broadband data, and cable tv plans from a single provider. Presumably, the convenience of a single bill and integrated service will attract users looking for lower monthly bill than if they had subscribed to each service individually.
Sprint (NYSE: S) has already partnered with Cox, Comcast, and Time-Warner to offer cable service to its customers, so TV service shouldn’t take a hit in quality. Now, this type of bundled service is offered by others, but Sprint is touting its cellphone controlled DVR and unlimited calling between your mobile and VoIP line as a key selling point. The service is only available in eight cities as of now, but Sprint plans to expand to another 40 cities by year end. If only Sprint offered GSM service, we’d be all over this one.
