Military Standard 810F defines strict performance parameters for dust, shock, and vibration tolerance. And guess what? The Sanyo (OTCPK: SANYY) SCP-7050 is the world’s first cell phone to meet those strict requirements. With a rugged shell and robust internals, this phone is geared more towards the construction and maintenance fields than the battlefields.
With built-in GPS, location data can be retrieved even when the phone’s CDMA radio is turned off. And features like 4.4 hours of talk time, bluetooth, and Java MVM allow this ultra-rugged device a good range of connectivity options. Another nice little feature is the ability to easily restore contacts if your phone is lost or stolen.
A two-year lockdown agreement with Sprint (NYSE: S) will get you the Sanyo SCP-7050 for around $150.

ref Sanyo 7050:
does the ‘buit-in gps’ mean this phone will work similiar to a handheld gps.
or will some kind of service plan purchase be required.
GPS receivers gather positional data from orbiting GPS satellites. The signals can be used for free, as long as you have a GPS receiver. So, no service plan required
but does this phone have mapping capabiliy — like a handheld gps unit.
or do you have to buy a service from sprint
I spoke with a Sanyo rep about one month ago and he told me that Bell Mobility will be selling this phone, the scp-7050 by the end of June 2007. Anyone heard anything to confirm or deny it?
that’s in Canada by the way
that’s in Canada by the way.
Glunner loves you!!
haha, we love you too!
By the way, we have no information regarding your Bell Mobility inquiry.
I just want to say thankyou to all of my fans, especially my American fans. You guys sure know how to make Glunner feel appreciated. Glunner loves all of you too!! By the way i have the new scp-7050 and it’s a really great phone!
the glunner is back!!! Kicking a$$ and taking names with this phone! Still an awesome phone!!
Sanyo SCP-7050 Phone – Military Tough. What bunch of bull. Mine stopped working after about 6 months. I spent 31 yrs in the military and this phone doesn’t live up to the hype. Buy yourself a throw away phone that is easily replaced rather then wasting numerous hours and travel trying to get the scp-7050 repaired while losing hundreds of dollars in business.
