S60 Browser Team: What do you think of Deepfish?

This is what the Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) Windows Mobile Browser Team is working on: Deepfish.

~ 6 minute video. At the end I just end up being a bit disappointed that there are no touch screen S60 devices on the market. I bet Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has something similar in the labs, but that’s in the labs. Microsoft will launch this as a mere software upgrade.

I can’t wait until the S60 Browser is detached from the S60 operating system and available for download. I’m tired of reformatting my phone once a month to avoid paying $30 for Opera S60.

VeriSign And Visa Team Up For Mobile Banking

Visa logoYahoo News reports that VeriSign has entered into a deal with Visa to allow payments for services and goods via mobile phones. The Visa mobile platform not only allows for mobile payment, but will offer users of the service promotional offers and rebates.

UTStarcom Drops The Ball On Sidekick ID

Sidekick ID previewYou know when someone messes up sooo badly that its even funnier when they try to fix it? Well, that happened to UTStarcom (NSDQ: UTSI) at CTIA. They dropped the ball when they put up a HUGE banner depicting the upcoming Sidekick ID. That’s the kind of mess up where all you can do is shake your head in embarrassment. Verizon Bets $6bn On VOIP And Video Calling

Verizon logoVerizon and Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) just inked an equipment deal to upgrade the CDMA carrier’s wireless network. Alcatel-Lucent will get $6 billion to provide 3 years worth of gear and tech support to expand Verizon (NYSE: VZ)’s network. “The Network” wants to add VOIP and video calling features to its, uh, network. In order to enable these features digital microwave radios, optical cross-connects and bandwidth management devices from Alcatel-Lucent will be added to the current infrastructure. Verizon is pushing for an all-IP based network and the integration of these new services will help make that a reality.

RIM Opens Up Blackberry API’s
