The Ring Nokia One Week Experiment

By Stefan Constantinescu on Monday, April 2nd, 2007 at 2:13 AM PST In Blog Updates

For this week I’m going to try a new style of blogging. At the end of everyday I’m going to attempt to take all the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) news I’ve consumed since waking up in the morning and compose a story that flows, with links of course.

It’s going to be new to me, it’s going to be new to you, I’m still experimenting with blogging. Ring Nokia has been alive for less than 6 months.

At the end of the week I’ll see what people are saying.

The two previous catch up posts are ridiculously long and will be absolutely nothing like the posts that will come this week.

I thank you guys for bearing with me in this.

Tommi already told me he didn’t like it. Tell me what you think in a week, OK?

I also hope I don’t loose many readers =P

Why am I doing this?

I want to reinvent myself. At the "Evening with S60" event people kept coming up to me and saying how much they enjoy reading Ring Nokia. I replied with "What don’t you like about my blog?" The consistent answer was lack of original content.

Copy and pasting information might be awesome. Hell one of my favorite RSS feeds is Robert Scoble’s link blog, but I honestly want to try and relate all the information I consume and present a more holistic approach to Nokia.

Like I said: It’s only for a week. If you think it’s complete and utter shit then please tell me.

I wasn’t gonna comment again, but I like the idea, kind of creative. Although, I’d say don’t force all contents into a post per day. Post things together if they belong. I’d like that.

Actually, I’d say you post A LOT. I’ve seen that comment around. You could post less if you have less free time, you know…

As for original content, I kind of like this blog as it summarizes every other blogs there is. Ya, I’d like original content too, but that doesn’t really bother me.

You could post more about your experience with Nokia phones though. The N93, E61, etc. I find that missing, when many blogs around as a lot of those, like e-series.org

well my voice is against such kind of innovations
several separate posts way seems more convinient for me

I don’t know what you are doing different, but I think that for the last 2 days or something your blog has looked quite awful in google reader. All the spacings are gone so its hard to read.

I really like this blog, thank you for writing it. However, I prefer having different subjects in different postings. It is easier to follow and you can read a couple of things and then continue from there (google reader remembers which postings you have allready read).

    Hey Stefan,

I’m not sure about the flowing-story style posts, but I’m definitely on board with a movement towards more original content. Anyone can “re-blog” and post stories others have shared; we have most of the sites you’re sourcing bookmarked, most likely. But *you* have valuable thoughts to share – you’re a sharp cookie with Nokia on the brain, don’t limit your blogging posts to other peoples’ content. Sourcing is great, but it’s *your* words that will take this blog to the next level… even if you post less frequently.

Anyhow, my two cents. Keep up the good work, and good luck on the new job!

    Andy

Hey, whatever you do, it would be cool. You actually help me do my job sometimes because your blog is so exhaustive.
