Cellphone options these days are plentiful, to say the least. Trying to find the right combination of form and function can be…well, a trying experience. But what if you could have it your way and make your own cell phone? Why should Steve Jobs get to do whatever he wants in the cell phone industry?

So, here’s a list of the Top 5 features that Dusan and Will think all mobile phone manufacturers should include:

HSPA!!!
For Goodness sake, even with unacceptable 3G coverage in some parts of the world (U.S.A, that means you!), at least give us the option of using HSPA speeds. It would be nicer problem to have a 3G radio and not use it than to dwell on the fact that you do not have a 3G radio.

High quality camera optics and sensor
What good is a gazillion-megapixels in a cell phone camera when the tiny, cruddy image sensor is capturing pictures through a scratched up plastic lens. What you get is a gazillion-megapixels of crappy picture (Samsung, listen up, you could learn something here)! Nokia has the right idea, with their 5megapixel N95 camera shooting pictures through a Carl-Zeiss lens – you don’t need massive pixel density when you have great optics.

Ample storage for media
Now that virtually all cell phones can play mp3′s and videos, there is a serious need for storage space. Whether its onboard or via expansion slot, phones need to have at least 1 GB for programs, audio, video, document files.

Mini projector
This technology already exists (TI developed it), it’s just the matter of time when will the handset manufacturers implement it. Well guys, who don’t want to have its video displayed on the wall. Heck this is so cool, that I’m willing to jump-in for the price tag of an iPhone.

Phone IS the computer
Have you seen Wizpy? It’s a mobile media player that can take over any computer in the world. Just plug-in Wizpy in your USB 2.0 port and let the computer boot from it. The Wizpy will start its Turbo Linux and, voila, you can use the “slave computer” as your own. I want this built-in in my mobile phone.

This Top 5 list is part of a group-blogging project from our friends at Mobile Marketing Watch. Join in on the fun and post your own Top 5 list on your blog! We can all benefit from added traffic and exposure. On April 6th, MMW will compile all Top 5 lists and post them on their blog.
