Steve takes a shot at reviewing the photo snapping capabilities of the Nokia N95. 5 megapixels is a lot, but don’t let that number fool you.
Here are a few of his gripes:
- Color reproduction
- LED flash
- No optical zoom
- Camera speed
The last one is my biggest complaint. Life passes you by in an instant; it’s ridiculous to assume that you have the patience to flip the shutter open, wait for the camera application to start, wait for the camera to focus and then snap a picture.
This is an area where a dedicated point and shoot camera excels at and something Nokia should try to not only replicate, but exceed in terms of performance.
I’m not going to call the N95 an inferior product. The feature list alone can increase the heart beat of any man who dare calls himself a geek. I’m just going to put my wallet back in my pocket and wait for next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, until I see a camera phone worthy enough for me to stop investing in sub $300 Canon’s.
That may sound like a difficult task, but look at how far camera phones have progressed over the past few years. I’m hopeful of the future.
