I finally understand why I don’t like Twitter

Ewan nailed it:
Texting, in this context, is totally last century. It needs to be an app on your phone.
Bingo! I don’t even like push email, I prefer opening the Gmail application when I have the time to actually go thru my messages.
I can’t imagine what it would be like getting text messages all day that are complete rubbish. I don’t care what my friends are doing this very second; I only care about what they’re doing when I have the free time to sit on my butt and ponder when our next evening of debauchery will take place.

try http://www.jaiku.com. it works right from your phone.
The only SMSes I get on my phone from Twitter are when people do a direct message. Otherwise, I just check in via the web on the phone. Either Twitter’s site directly or the WAP formatted version that 30boxes does. They both work.
I thought people actually liked the whole getting 100’s of text messages a day thing?
I 2nd Jaiku. The S60 app is awesome, especially for 3rd edition.
I have a script running that posts my Jaiku updates over to twitter just to keep my twitter using friends happy.
Hi stefan,
Hmm, i don’t like twitter either, but for different reasons.
I read somewhere today, that it took Twitter for the US to catch on to what Europe has been on for years – SMS.
Like I said, I don’t like twitter either, but there are an awful lot of people to live and die by SMS. And then there are the under twenty-somethings in Europe.
I suggest you pay a visit to somewhere in Europe to see exactly what I mean.
Stand outside (or even inside) any irish bar, and you’ll see the power of SMS.
