We had a lot happen over the weekend! Bees are dying because we use our cellphones too much, Symbian widgets are on the way, we got transforming phones, and wooden cell phones. But alas, we don’t have the time or need to recap all that mess. Let’s look at some Windows Mobile-related developments.

Finally, Windows Mobile 6.0 moves further into mass-market commercialization with the release of the Windows Mobile 6.0 Product Reference Guide. The guide provides a breakdown of terms and differences between the different versions of the new Windows Mobile OS. With the complete change to the naming schemes for WinMo, we really needed that. Well, not us, per se (of course not, we know it all), but we’re sure there’s a lot of people in tech support and sales that could use some edu-ma-cat-ing. It looks like Microsoft is really expecting to push a lot of WinMo6 copies out their door. Good news for WM6 fans! (that’s us, in case you forgot)

And our cute little HTC has really grown into a major electronics manufacturing powerhouse. They’ve come a long way from the little ODM pushing out niche smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.0. HTC’s got their fingers all up in (not like that, perv) network carriers, worldwide. And now, they are gearing up production for a new line of 3.5G wireless broadband cards – through their subsidiary, BandRich. You go HTC! Way to spread the WinMo seed you wireless mac-daddy you! Anything that’s good for HTC is definitely good for us (cuz we’re Windows Mobile fans).

As for Nokia. Yes, you got some cool phones, but c’mon. You gotta put the customer first! Even if Symbian OS were the way I wanted to go (that’s a biiig if). Something like this would completly turn me off and keep me with Windows Mobile all the way. I’m sure Dusan agrees with me on this one, don’t ya, Dusan?

Now, for some exciting, if somewhat off-topic, developments in mobile tech. We found that little patent application making us giddy over what the iPhone could be keeping secret. Those boys in Cupertino really know how to keep a tight lip, but we think the cat’s already out of the bag. My iPhone is totally going to control my Apple TV, my MacBook, and my LIFE! As long as it lasts long enough on that crap battery.
