According to a recent study, mobile ads in Japan are set to triple by 2011, reaching 128.4 billion yen (1.1 billion dollars). The growth comes after Japanese carriers last year equipped phones with search apps, allowing advertisers to post related links.
Japan is one of the most advanced markets, where more than 100 million people are using mobile phone (total population of Japan is 127.7 million people). Furthermore, roughly two-thirds of mobile subscribers are using third-generation or even more sophisticated technologies that allow web browsing and other advanced functions. (via: AFP)
