Qantas To Test In-Flight Text Messaging

Well, with in-flight cell phone calls dead – at least over FAA airspace – the next logical step is to test-trial in-flight texting. Australian airline, Qantas, will be conducting a 3-month trial that will allow passengers to send and receive texts at 35,000 feet on Boeing 767’s. It’s just too bad passengers won’t know they’re on a participating 767 until they’re on-board. The test is meant to research the effects of cell phone use while in the air. This could be the first baby-step for in-flight calling. “Could be” being the operational phrase here.
