Dusan: Nokia N95 awarded, new Symbian phone from Samsung, BlackBerry world phone, plus a Ferrari

3 phonesIf you’re still wondering whether to buy the Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s flagship N95 smartphone, it’s time to stop doing so! Lately, the N95 has been awarded as the “Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2007″ by the fellows who actually do the photography. So you’re not only buying a smartphone with the N95, but also the powerful camera which is always with you.

We have a new Symbian phone made by Samsung (SGH-i400). Interesting is the fact that this is the first device that wears the “Symbian” badge. Is this a new trend or what? So far only savvy users knew that there is a Symbian in the smartphone — there were no mark on the device to suggest that the phone is actually a “multimedia computer” as Nokia likes to add.

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) officially announced the BlackBerry world phone — the one that should work on both CDMA and GSM networks. That’s certainly something business users and BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) fans should appreciate.

Plus, we have the first photos of the Sony Ericsson’s Ferrari phone. It shouldn’t be that expensive (when compared to the Vertu Ferrari phone), yet it should pack a more-than-a-decent camera. That’s 3.2 MP with autofocus and Xenon flash.

Back to you Will. Yeah Nokia saw its margins going down. I guess the whole industry will suffer. And man do I care? No – it’s good to see them suffering to bring us, the consumers, even more affordable gadgets. And that’s something to look forward to.

Still, I wouldn’t bet that Nokia is going down. Their supply chain gives them the power over other handset makers. As their CEO used to say: “No one can make phones with lower costs than us!” Still, I don’t want low cost phones – I want the powerful one that doesn’t cost a fortune, and to see it subsidised by the carriers. And not VoIP crippled, of course.

That’s it for today. See ya soon…
