We’ve seen the leaked photos, and now we have the official word from Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless – BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) 8830 will be ready on May 14/28th and will work on both GSM and CDMA networks. Two dates suggest that on May 14 Verizon will make the new BlackBerry available through its business units and online retailing outfit, while on May 28 it will hit the brick-and-mortar Verizon stores.
While you’re in the States, the BlackBerry 8830 will use Verizon’s 1X CDMA voice network and its EV-DO data network. On the other hand once you leave the country, you can plug a SIM card and use your BlackBerry as a GSM device and EDGE network for data transfer.
In terms of specs, latest BlackBerry has an extended battery life (Verizon suggest 25% greater than previous models), network auto-selection, plus all other business features BlackBerry fans have used to.
